WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE ?

Acupuncture is a safe and very effective natural therapy that is used to heal illness, prevent disease and improve well-being by restoring the body’s inner harmony. Tiny, hair-thin needles are inserted into specific points in the body, where they are gently stimulated to trigger the body’s natural healing response. Acupuncture is effective for controlling pain and can regulate the body’s physiological functions to treat various internal dysfunction and disorders.

There are fourteen energy channels called “meridians” running vertically along the length of the human body, each one linking to a specific organ. Qi, the natural energy of the universe flows freely along these meridian lines as long as the body is healthy. Qi consists of opposing forces known as Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang need to be in the right balance so that harmony is achieved. It is re-balancing the yin and yang in the body to achieve harmony that is the basis of healing. By stimulating the acupuncture points, the body’s Qi can be adjusted, balanced, and harmonized.

Illness is caused by obstructed energy flow at certain points along the meridians. Acupuncture therapy stimulates meridian flow and harmonizes the body’s energy to influence the health of both body and mind.

Acupuncture influences both the central and peripheral nervous systems. It also stimulates the release of brain chemicals such as endorphins, which function to relieve pain. Acupuncture increases immune system functioning, improves the circulatory system, decreases muscle tightness, and increases joint flexibility.
Acupuncture stimulation improves blood flow to the skin, muscle, brain, and various other internal organs.
